During our tests, we observed that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well on tiles, laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It also did a good job of navigating between furniture and objects, although it did struggle with stairs, and can crash into objects like bookcases.
The S9's capability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin after it's full was an excellent feature. It cut down on the necessity for manual maintenance. The dust bag should last about 30 loads, which is about one month or so and you'll need to replace the filter once every few months (which is actually recommended by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not very noisy when it operates, making it a good choice for families with children or pets.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Designed to take one of the most difficult tasks off your shoulders, robot vacuum cleaners do all the work and get carpeted and hardwood floors clear of every day debris. The most effective ones can be controlled and monitored using an app on your smartphone, and some even have mopping technology for bathroom and kitchen floors. They're an excellent choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. But if you want top-tech features in your robotic cleaner, you'll have to spend a bit more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is a complete vacuum and mopping machine, making it a good choice for those in a home with multiple floors. Dual motors provide it with incredible cleaning power, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can store plenty of pet hair. The dustbin can be removed and emptied with ease this is important since you'll have to do it often.
It's easy to set it up too, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. You'll have to install the Eufy Home app and follow the directions for connecting it to your Wi-Fi network. After you've completed this the app will assist you create an accurate map of your home. You can label rooms or divide rooms into sub-rooms (good for open-plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at the time of. Eufy's application is more user-friendly and precise than other robots with similar scanning and mapping capabilities.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can turn on the mop or vacuum cleaner via voice thanks to its integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot even more hands-free. It also works well in our test home.
As with many robotic vacuums the X8 Hybrid has some issues with floors that are not clean. It is prone to miss pet hair and small objects, and it is prone to get into objects - like its own charger on the base for charging. It's not as quiet as other models we've tried, and the whirring noise could be distracting.
Roborock V3S Pro
The robot doesn't come with as many features as the more expensive ones we tested, however it does have the basics covered. It has a large dust bin that can hold a large amount of dirt before it needs to be cleaned. The vacuum and mop system is ideal for carpets and hard floors with a low pile. It is also very quiet. We were able to watch television while it was cleaning without feeling as though we were being overwhelmed by noise.
Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to install and use, and they were amazed by its ability to take all the mess out of their flooring. It also did a excellent job of removing pet hair and messes from carpeting, although it wasn't as successful in tackling stubborn stuck-on stains. The app was simple to use and easy to understand. They were able schedule the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to reduce the amount of manual work. It doesn't have the ability to avoid objects or map technology, which means it cannot be used to send specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries are compatible).
The V3S Pro is another model from the iRobot's budget line. It offers many impressive features at an affordable cost. It was the best of all robotic vacuums we tested when it comes to finding and avoiding obstacles and is the ideal option for those who want a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that can handle pet hair and messes on both carpeting and hardwood floors. It's also extremely quiet and comes with a large dust bin that can hold plenty of debris before it has to be empty.
The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choices black friday robot vacuum deals lists of trusted sources who test hands-on, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They appreciated the ease of install and use, however they also noted that its battery life is very short and it was unable to stay clear of some of the toughest mess we've put it through.
